Dr. Robert Atkins and his Atkins diet plan and recipes are the subject of countless books, magazines and millions of pages on the Internet. In fact, the last time I typed in ‘Atkins diet plan’ in my search for low-carb recipes, the search engine returned over 4 million hits!

As if it isn’t frustrating enough trying to lose weight, here I am trying to sort through millions of sites. All I really want is to find out more about the Atkins diet plan and maybe find a few good Atkins diet recipes. Why does this have to be so complicated?

Maybe you’re like me and just want a simple, easy-to-use resource to help you get started with the Atkins diet plan, collect some Atkins diet recipes, and connect with others who are trying to lose weight with a low carbohydrate diet.

People continue to find success with the Atkins diet meal plans, although there are those who also proclaim this diet is an unhealthy way to lose weight. Take the various meal plans and food lists and decide for yourself if this diet is for you.

Remember if the carb intake at the end of each day does not match your level of net carbs be sure to either add or subtract vegetables, side dishes as well as extra snacks to ensure you are meeting you daily net carb level.   • Vegetables-Salad vegetables are usually lower in carbohydrates than other vegetables, such as peas, squash, and tomatoes.
  • Fats and Oils-Butter, vegetable oils, olive oil, mayonnaise
  • Beverages-Diet soda, club soda, herb tea, one to two cups of coffee or tea. Alcoholic drinks are not allowed during the first phase, but during phase two, one glass of wine per night is allowed.

You'll need to decide on the correct amount of daily carbohydrate needs for your body weight, activity level, and weight loss goals. You'll also need to keep careful track of the amount of food you eat per serving and the carb content of each food you choose. The following sites will get you started:
